OVERSEAS COUNCIL Celebrating 40 Years
Praise God from whom all blessings flow! We are thankful for the Lord’s blessing on 40 years of ministry, growing Overseas Council’s support from one seminary in 1974 to 130 seminaries and Bible colleges in 70 countries around the world today. As we celebrate this milestone in the life of Overseas Council, we hope you enjoy this glimpse into our beginnings as well as highlights from the past 40 years. Thank you for your prayers and support.
The organization is now simply referred to as Overseas Council. What once started out as the vision of five men to provide Korean student scholarships has turned into the largest ministry of its kind in the world, providing various kinds of assistance to 130 partner institutions in 70 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa.
58,000 students take courses and 19,000 graduate from Overseas Council partners every year.
Most of the students in our partner seminaries are already ministering when they enroll, and they enroll out of a deep sense of felt need. The Church is growing rapidly in the Majority World, and equipped leaders are rare.
Every day, students hope to train in a seminary or Bible institute but can’t because they lack the funds.
Oftentimes, faculty members do not have appropriate training themselves. They could be training, educating and empowering students more effectively if they could receive further education and training.
